Dave's not kidding. That climb up Steel Fell isn't as bad as you might think and it's over pretty soon. I was still feeling OK at that point on my attempt :-)

Steel Fell is a doddle. Good path all the way up and like NE said, it's over very quickly. I wish the same could be said for Clough Head, Yewbarrow and Red Pike ;)

6:30pm on the 13th of July is now my revised go date. With my crack Judean People's Front I've got everything apart from Leg 1 covered so far.

Best of luck ub. The worst climbs, for me, are the slog up the back of Blencathra and the slog up Clough Head. Taking them out would mae it far nicer ;-)

No, Clough Head and Blencathra feel like they go on forever. On Yewbarrow you get a real feel of progress, despite the slower pace.

Blencathra isn't too bad because of the flattish section across Mungrisdale Common. However it's boggy so that takes the wind out of your sails a bit. Red Pike is one for me because you slog up Yewbarrow only to realise you've have to instantly sacrifice that hard earned altitude and almost do it all over again. ;)

Surprised no-one has mentioned Fairfield in the hard climbs :-O

I'm a long way from the fells in Singapore airport about to board a 12+hour flight. Slightly more than a half a Bob!
