I'm looking for a hard, hilly, preferably mountainous trail race, around the 4-5 hour mark. So could be a hard marathon distance with lots of vertical or a short ultra, anyone have a recommendation they would like to share?

it's about 27 miles, off road, with some pretty steep climb. and the aid stations, medal and organisation are excellent

Beachy Head marathon? A vertical mile of ascent / descent. October 29th this year. Runners would expect to add at least 45 minutes on to their flat road marathon time, possibly more.

Beachy Head (a bit over 26.2 miles?), Wharfedale Off-road Marathon (short of marathon distance) or Yorkshireman (26.2 give or take) are all great

Haworth Hobble or various LDWA events worth considering too

Keswick mountain festival ultra? keswickmountainfestival.co.uk

If it's the same route as last year there are some good hard climbs in it.
