I currently run in mainly Brooks Pure Flow for general/long runs and Saucony Kinvara's for races and speedwork. Both are great shoes but durability isn't their strength. They both have only 300 miles on the clock and are coming to the end of their useful lives. Is their anything on the market which is both lightweight and which I can get a long life out of? Thanks.

I really like my k swiss blade light, have done 75 miles in one go in them. Got to 600 miles and retired them just because I thought I ought to

Inov8 f-lite 230 or 195's. I've had over 800 miles from 230's using them for all runs from short recoveries to marathons. Only retired them due to the upper falling apart. Read of other fetchies getting over 1100 miles from them!

I get really good mileage from my lunar racers and tend to retire them only because they smell a bit like a mouldy dog after one winter's training!

Not long had a pair of New Balance 1260 and they are incredibly light and comfortable. Bought them from Amazon at half price £55 after recomendations from Runners World. Have to say they are superb. They are supposedly a high mileage shoe but can't comment on durability yet. They are a support shoe, but they do a cushioned alternative the 1080V2.

1100 from my last pair of F-lite 230's and 900 and still going from my current pair. I am far from light as well so I would expect a smaller runner to do better than that.

Of course (in my opinion) the thinner and/or harder the midsole foam, the less chance of you noticing any change in the way your shoes feel. Most shoes will last 800-1000 miles in terms of staying in one piece, but shoes with thick foam midsoles will noticeably break down and ride differently after a certain mileage. That's why it makes more sense not to wear platforms.
