You sound like the opposite to me - you have natural speed but not the base stamina. I have bu88er all speed but can hang on forever. If we could find some way to combine....

I suspect BB will be well out of sight with his times wot start with a 2 LOL!

How about Kieren carries you on his back in first 7 miles, then him and your back for the last 19?

:-)

Times start with a 2.... I pray!

I didn't realise I didn't have the base till I did the marathon. Most of my training runs were every other day in 2006 & always fast & in the uncomfortable zone for just over 7 miles. I was constantly getting annoying injuries & ran less than 500 miles. This year I want to be more consistent & injury free.

Tarange, I can't believe you only started running in July. Good times so far & now that you're in a route I think you'll amaze yourself with the progress you'll make this year. You'll probably get a big jump, then a plateau then another big jump in performance - at least that's the way I think it happens.

I think BB will do amazingly well. The one time I ran with him he was really able to live in the uncomfortable zone (5k pace). He can judge a pace & he's really putting the hard work in with his training. I can't believe he's still making big improvements at the level he's at - it must mean there's plenty more to come.

haha T. - well I thought he was away for a week so wouldn't see it but you have him credit.

KS, you're times are fast that 10k doesn't tally up. From your other times I think can be quicker. I think we have to find you a 10 course to PB on

I know my 10K doesn't tally! I ran 45:xx for the first time in 2004 and have repeated that time to within a few seconds on several occasions since, but for whatever reason I never seem to get any faster. I think my heart isn't really in the shorter stuff LOL!

oooh, all this talk about it. So excited! Do we really have to wait until nearly October.

Lucky I've got at least 5 maras in the meantime to relieve some of the frustration :-) But none will be anywhere as near as fast as this one.

You shouldn't ask that sort of question with us around, as we may be tempted to try and find out...
