What about the weather for Berlin, Ive heard from various people that the heat is a killer, even in Sept. I have relatives who live there and they agree....... is anyone else concerned about this or is it just because living in Scotland means im used to sub zero tempratures!!

It was hot last year, but if you read back you will see KatieS posted the average temps for Berlin in September. CLearly heat could be a problem, but it is the world record course, and I hear good things about it from amateurs as well

The average temp is quite reasonable - high teens iirc, so it's just potluck as to what the weather does on the day, just like with any other race. In 2004 I did a UK marathon in May and the temp was above 30C by the end - these things happen...

I'm guessing there will be good transport to the start of the race so perhaps a hotel near the bars would be a good choice?

Not too far to stagger home then

as I'm guessing the combined effects of 26.2 miles in my legs & more than a few of those strong German beers will hinder my ability to walk in straight lines

Just hiring mine too.

They are no good as a souvenir - they are just an ugly bit of white plastic you thread through your laces.

Owning your own might be a good idea if you could use it in other races but as far as I know, every UK race that uses champion chip timing loans you a chip as part of the entry fee. I've never seen an option to use your own
