Max it's fine! Most of us will have lost our minds by the time the taper's over :-)

Sounds like a very efficient programme HOD - especially as I remember you were injured weren't you? I did the same - and it looks like I've done maybe ~5% more overall miles, the same number of LRs, but slightly more speed sessions. I was a little surprised - I guess I've taken a few breaks for holidays etc - but pleased: I was expecting the training to look more voluminous and one paced.

Will I see you @ Nottingham tomorrow? Common sense has prevailed in the end, so I'm going to do it as mara pace practice run... I raced it last year - also 2 weeks before Berlin - and Reading 2 weeks before FLM06, without obvious ill effects, but analysing my training it turned out that I'd done both those maras @ 2xHMP + 11%, whereas for London (Half 4 wks before) that had been 2xHMP +7%.

On that basis, I'd need to do a sub 1:20 just to offset the damage of doing the HM so close to the marathon, so I'm *not* racing. Feel very guilty cos I've already had bets etc. but when your pros and cons list has loss of fetch betting points as the only pro to doing a race... well... it had to be done. (so very *sorry* to betters - again!)

Well... touch wood... sort of yes, ish! Although I'll only really be able to say yeah or nay in two weeks time. I've managed to keep myself in one piece which is the main thing - touch various wooden objects - and gradually almost imperceptibly I've found the harder stuff getting faster/easier over recent weeks, so sharpening up nicely.

Hence dilemma for tomorrow! I do feel in shape to PB - but my half time at Reading this year was always going to be a tough one to beat with the hills at Nottingham... Worst case outcome would be hard race and no PB at Nottingham + insufficient recovery and no PB at Berlin either!
