Yes young Tappers, where have you been? You've been missed.

Cheers Paul A, 3 weeks is probably about the right place to end the long runs but I still think I'll go with 2 as I need the confidence.

I'm so excited about this now.

Don't really think that there is a problem with a long one 2 weeks before, as long as you take it easy and don't overdo the rest of the week. I hope not anyway, as I have 19 miles of Round Norfolk to complete LOL

My taper will be reduce my peak mileage by something 60%, 40% and 20% for the last 3 weeks.

Kieren - I am doing my final long 20+ run on 8 or 9 Sep - 3 weeks before the race. If you have the time to do this as well I would recommend it. I need to speak with Gobi, but my long run 2 weeks before will prob be more like 15m.

If you haven't done enough long runs, then doing one 2 weeks before would be fine (just as long as it's really slow). But I don't think it's ideal. The taper should see lots of short, sharp speedwork, so that will continue to test the legs

And please tell me you've been doing the long runs slowly??

okay, so I'm not going to Berlin but I was thinking about it and it is my birthday that day so I feel I'm sort of allowed to comment here!

Of course you can do long runs fast... just not all the time!! And probably not this close to race day if you haven't tried it before... right, I'm off to the NY thread!
