Yes well done finishers. I was hanging around the Tesco at mile 23 and saw a few of you though some were disguised in club kit....

Hope everyone is ok this morning. What a fab course, really enjoyed the whole thing. :)

I think I said hello to RunningRonnie about 4.5 miles, it was great to see Brian and further on a small group of Fetchies near the bridge. I'd definitely come back!

I think you did ndellar :)

How did everyone get on? I didn't go quite what I hoped, but I did set myself a new course record for LNM, so I will take that.

My LNM was a rather brutal character building experience. At 4-6 miles I could feel a grumbling appendix, then again at 8-9, then I saw my left trainer with a beautiful coating of blood. I had assumed this was a blister, but turns out I had ripped the skin off the top of my small toe, happy days. Mixture of jog/hobble/powerwalk to the next first aid stop (three miles away, torture!) and got it gauze bandaged up, which lasted around three miles before slipping off and wedging under the sock, cue another delay. Decided not to bother with a replacement at the next stop because I couldn't see how another 11/12 miles would make it exponentially worse TBH.

All was going well for about two miles until the entry to Dores, and I felt my lower back, suddenly, horrifically spasm. It was breath-taking how painful it was, and I was lucky there was an ambo just round the corner. Got it well strapped up, and the rest of the race turned into a staccato powerwalk and jog session, barely a few hundred metres at a time. VERY grateful to bump into Annie whose good spirit and task-mistressing got me through, almost certainly would have DNF'd otherwise. Made it to the line in 5:52, and was glad to get the medal!

Course itself is as beautiful as I expected but by christ the constant undulation makes it a right old slog at times - this is definitely not one for beginners.

No guts, no glory!

Puts my woes in perspective.

I was having a great run until Dores where I felt some cramp in my legs. Took some high five in my water and some Dextrose tabs and walked up the hill where it seemed to clear and I got running again. Just before Inverness it struck again. Stretched off and managed to run for a bit.

At 23 miles, I felt my legs fail under me completely. I felt sick. I felt dizzy. I knew my friend and gf were waiting for me at the bridge at mile 24 and I managed a slow march to them fully intending to pull out and walk over the bridge with them. I carried on with a slow walk/jog to the end and felt rotten.

Pleased to get round in one piece. Forgot how much downhill there is, my quads were thrashed. Disappointed no water for us slower runners at the first water station.

Tigerlily
Well done to all who took this monster on yesterday. I don't think I've sworn so much in all my life! I managed a bit of a PB (32 mins) and am highly delighted but my body is less than impressed today. Great to see Fetchies at the end but I spent more time in the portaloos than socialising. Only thing that spoiled my day was the nob head ticket inspector on the Scotrail service heading home. #jobsworthwank
