With a dodgey knee and minimal training in the last 2 months I complete my maiden marathon:). 4 hours 32 but happy to get through it this time. The support along the way was very good. Major respect to all the guys taking part, especially that woman who we saw finishing way after everyone had gone home and the dismantling on site had begun.

I left the course at 1430 and there were still quite a few folks out there then - about 5- 6 miles from finish.

Back home and just proudly updated my race portfolio with my first marathon time of 5:12:02 About 40 mins later than I was expecting due to my right knee FUBAR-ing at mile 13.5. Pushed through the pain doing something like 12 minute miles til the bottom of "the" hill at 18m and from then on it was walk/shuffle/crawl to 25 miles when seeing my mum and dad and partner, MikeR, Mameister and other friends got me to the next level and I somehow ran a 10:40 mile to the finish. An emotional rollercoaster - gutted I didn't get the race I wanted and couldn't run strongly, but on the other hand so proud I finished despite adversity. Old Croc - seeing you and your one-man-fetchpoint lifted my spirits so much! It's amazing how little things supporters do can make such a difference to the runners :D |

Well done everyone. Good on ya Old Croc, brought a smile to my stitch-ridden face at the top of the hill! Squeezed a minute off last year with 3:08:34, and Mrs Chesilboy smashed her debut in 4:45. We also set a new record of 9:50 for the 612 mile drive home! Great race. |
