Too Much Water
Well a pleasing 33 miles this week, 6 runs totalling 5 hours 50, including todays 1 hr 40 effort. Pace seems to have quickened a little, for the same level of effort.

I think a few recovery runs may be in order this week as this is my highest week so far, after 28 miles last week. Missed my window for a parkrun this week, so next option is now early April.

Average pace has dropped from 10:32 in Feb to 10:12 in March. Mileage about the same (25 miles a week average)

Didn't do parkrun in the end. Lower mileage so far this month due to uni and DIY commitments. Averaging 21 mpw over the year.

Comfortable run of 12.5 miles done at 10:00 pace, longest run this year and probably since 2010.

Average pace for last 30 days is 9:58

Approx 40 lbs lost since January 1st

Weight loss is now 46 lbs

Tried doing a big week last week, totalled 9hrs training, for 54 miles and a longest run of 15 miles. 15 miles is maybe a little too far without water on reflection, felt a little parched at the end.

Average pace for this month 10:03, I did roughly the same mileage as March in the end, largely due to uni work getting in the way.

Hoping to slot in a parkrun this month, which means it may be time to start some faster sessions, as opposed to just jogging for an hour each night. Any simple suggestions which I can do without using a garmin (and ideally not looking at the stopwatch on my phone either)?

Fartlek or Progressive run are probably the easiest thing to do.

Thanks SPR, that's a good shout.

Any suggestions on faster sessions from the daytime crowd?

Other than what's already been suggested, you could try a tempo - do 10-15 mins warm up, 30-40 mins comfortably hard, then 10-15 mins easy to warm down.

Interesting thread. I want to spend the next six months building a good base, in prep for a marathon nest spring, but my first week of 20 miles has led to a knee twinge. Might frop it down to 15 and see what happens from there. Interesting to see your results TMW, seems like a very good start :-)
