Flatlander, out of curiosity, what anticoagulant did they give you? Our near default one is Apixaban, but the health board is beginning to push towards Edoxaban which is cheaper but less cost effective when excess bleeds and clots are taken into account.

Rivaroxaban, trade name Xarelto, a NOAC (Novel Oral Anti-Coagulant) which is a Factor Xa inhibitor.

Despite NOACs having no antidote (although one has recently been developed https://www.ema.europa.eu/en/news/first-antidote-reversal-anticoagulation-factor-xa-inhibitors-apixaban-rivaroxaban) (Warfarin inhibits Vitamin K, so the antidote is to just give the patient more Vitamin K) I was happy to take it instead of Warfarin since the dose of Warfarin is difficult to get right due to variations in dietary intake of Vitamin K (found mainly in green leafy vegetables).

I didn’t realise this thread was still a thing.

Five years and 7 months since my second ablation and I am still symptom and medication free 😀

Does anyone know if there is a difference between cardiac ablation and catheter ablation?

Page 23 shows all the posts from 2016-2019 so not really a thing.....I’m pretty sure Canute posted various things in there, especially around trying to find links/causes for elite level athletes having significantly higher incidence of AF than the general population......

News from me:

Blood test at 07;25 tomorrow. Thence to see a cardiologist.

My AF is mild, apparently, and I may get away with being prescribed nothing more dramatic than asprin, although in probability it will be warfarin or one of its more modern cousins.
