Squirrels do seem to be a bit whizzy at the moment and seem to jump out in front of me when on my bike. I ran one over a couple of years ago. :-o

As advised at the 2013 Richmond Park Marathon safety briefing:

"Mind out for the wild animals that are in the park. Also, mind out for cyclists. They're animals too but on expensive machines!"

I'm a bit concerned that Grounded Events want to include a 50k bike ride as a prelude to the BM10k and Brighton Marathon in April. Can you imagine 15k runners, 150k spectators plus all those cyclists and bikes in and around Brighton on 14 April?

They should organise it at the same time, on the same course. Even better, the bikes start fifteen minutes behind.
