I'm android and I would download an app to have as a backup in case my Garmin wasn't charged or for some other reason wasn't using it. For instance, when it was broken and away being repaired, I would have used Fetch App then to log my training. Then, as the features on the app go beyond what a Garmin can do (e.g. games like WSW, Fetchpoint etc. live map and dot tracking etc.) G

A Fetch app would do it for me including the route which I haven't done in the past when I've transferred recorded data manually.
