my 310 has just died a mysterious death.

What should I buy as an alternative?

I want long battery (maybe even 12hours worth), which was the main reason I got the 310XT.

Not that bothered about bike compatibility as I have an Edge for cycling with, not that bothered about training programs etc. HRM compatibility would be good.

Can't swim, don't swim, watches that do swimming stuff are dead to me.

I'm sure someone posted that a Garmin rep said there will be a new 220 and 620 out in the new year, that should affect prices of say the current 610 etc. (Though I understand you might not want to wait that long!).

I had considered the Polar stuff like the RS3, until I found out that it didn't do average lap pace, which is the main thing I use these for!!

There is less panic than I thought, as I have found my old 410, so at least I have something.
I was just looking at some Polar ones, can't believe they dont do avg lap pace, isn't that what most of us use for pacing???

Ha, yes. I was actually looking at the special edition TdF when I found out the issue. As far as I can tell it does average pace, but over the 'total' distance, not an individual lap. So, I guess if you don't use the lap function, then it will give you the average pace...

Hmmm, my 205 is now dying a slow death - it's still serviceable, just, but it might be time to start thinking about a new one - worth getting a 310XT or should I look at alternatives?

I mean Garmin alternatives. After how good the 205 has been, I'm not willing to look elsewhere really.

Would use it for swimming, cycling, running and orienteering.

I think my 310XT will be up for sale when that 620 comes out - it looks immense! dcrainmaker.com

(And obviously I was meaning the Polar RC3, not RS3...does that even exist!)

Slickster - let me know how much you are going to be selling it for and I may well want it. In fact, I probably will. Provided it's in reasonable nick of course!

The 620 looks very nice. They just have to bring it out in time for my birthday!
