Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

good link that daviec. There's alot of info there but once you've got your head around it, it's pretty good. It's based on the Jack Daniels formula, which as I said above, is what I use to calc my training paces. Will save that to my computer.

The different tempo paces are very good. I ran a 5m tempo last night and was a bit disappointed that I averaged 4 secs slower than my target, but given the adjustments in the spreadsheet, I was actually just inside target pace.

I don't have Daniel's book yet so the intensity points are a bit beyond me so I just hide them. I find the rest of the sheet very useful.

really good table, thanks
paces are quite differnt though for my recent 6mile race compared to my actual marathon time. Should I go with the 6 mile race or with my best marathon (I havnt really improved since my last marathon I just dont seem to beable to get what shorter races predict for various reasons)

I had a chance to study that spreadsheet properly last night and there's loads to play with there.

Hellen, use your most recent race time to get your training paces. Lots of people struggle to achieve the marathon time their shorter races predict but you still want to train in the correct zones to get most benefit from each session.

easy aerobic pace differs by about 30s!!

Which pace do I use for my LSR?

The spreadsheet was a bit odd cos when I tried to print it it would only print 1 page, then when I highlighted it is printed the whole lot but all on one page so it is tiny!!!

What is the weight thing all about, it gives teh weight for long distnace runnners, is that what it is telling me I should be or is that what the elite shoudl be?

Thanks for the sheet Davie, I must now take some time to work out what it means.

I've nearly finished reading the P&D book. Maybe Daniels is the next one to look at (I have "Lore of running" but don't think I'll be reading the whole thing for a while). Does anyone have the title of the book, or even better an Amazon link?
