24-week isn't that a bit too long...

Won't you be a bit stale at the end...

Just a thought...

I thought when it came to doubles, if you are mean to do a long run split it into 8 in the morning and 8 at night that equated to 2 x medium runs ? or am I missing something? As for kit I never wear at twice as I have a hyper sensitive nose and woudl be forever thinking I coudl smell myself??

I will probably run doubles to and from work on recovery days this time around (for FLM), I'll just re-wear the kit I ran in with.

Doubles are more for aiding recovery by splitting 10 miles as 6 am and 4 pm. Or to get more miles in without tiring yourself too much, 13 miles in one day is easier as 7/5 for example. If you are meant to do a long run then splitting it will mean you don't get the benefit of a long run.

P&D don't put doubles on long-run days, do they? Although I seem to recall some testosterone-hurling 11+7 doubles on non-long-run days. Neither of those runs would even count as "medium long" in P&D parlance.

I'm currently at work and wearing a suit ... but instead of a shirt, I'm wearing the Arc'teryx base layer I ran in this afternoon. Do I smell? Do I care?

;)

double days don't provide the same benefit as one long run. You still need to do the long ones. However, double days do mean you don't feel as knackered as after one long run. Although, Jacobi, I'm not sure how 7/5 would equate to an easy way to clock 13 miles ;o)

As for 24 weeks - it's all down to personal preference. I don't think I'd have any problems with a 24-week schedule, but can see why others may find that too long to remain properly focussed.

You people re-wearing smelly kit are smelly ;o)

Of course, my smilies would be much better had I done them properly, like so ;-)

Um, yes. I'm sure I'd be a lot more squeamish about being smelly if I didn't have to worry about the practicalities of getting clothes washed and dried ;)

(Actually, I draw the line at putting kit back on if I've been burning amino acids in the rain. Ammonia-laced damp polypropylene is truly nasty.)

7/5 is easier on the body than 15 - that's how it's easier, recovery is much quicker than running 13 miles flat.
