just another quickie on the subject of garmins. my friend loaned me hers for the day. it bleeped in time with the first 3 mile markers and then bleeped well before the rest of them. plus it showed i covered 27 miles. I didn't stop at a cayke shop (unfortunately) but took the "scenic" route round the industrial estates (both times) on the hunt for suitable loos!

I found suitable loos, one was an oak tree the other a horse chestnut.

Hi, I just calculated my splits and worked out a simple structure in the times. I have 3 phases of my race last Sunday. So from seeing this, I can't imagine doing this any different, just maybe cutting the difference in pace between each phase.

During the race I remember problems on Mile 14, then it getting v.hard from mile 18 onwards, with the last 2-3 miles v.difficult.

Phase 1, miles 0-15 15m 118.47 = 7.55mm
Phase 2, miles 16-22 7m 58.53 = 8.25mm
Phase 3, miles 23-26 4m 35.57 = 8.59mm

Actual Splits:
8.11, 7.52, 7.51, 8.05, 8.06, 7.39, 7.53, 7.43, 7.51, 7.50, 7.50, 7.54, 7.57, 8.06, 7.49,
8.13, 8.05, 8.18, 8.37, 8.28, 8.29, 8.29,

8.46, 8.54, 9.25, 8.50

Lap of the track, 1.47 (7.29mm), clicked the watch at 26mile marker of the stadium gate.

I suppose from the splits you could include miles 16/17 in the first phase, given I picked up for a little bit. :)

I left for college at 8am (equivalent of last week's 9am) and the rain was coming down and I just smiled and remembered where I was that time last week :-)
