Please allow me a shameless plug for my clubs off road 20miler on Sept 28th. 3 weeks before Abingdon. It won't be to everyones taste but it has always received very good praise in the previous 3 years of the event has been held. There is an event thread on this site - http://www.fetcheveryone.com/viewtopic.php?id=13909 and the race details can be found via this link - http://www.fetcheveryone.com/viewracedetails.php?id=20862 As far as my own Abingdon prep is concerned I got my 3rd 20 miler in the bank yesterday so Iām fairly happy:) |

MInes a bit hit an miss billy. Done one 20m which I was dead chuffed with, no walking, low HR, 9:15 pace, but yesterday I gad to cut the 2nd one at 6m as my legs were done in. CV and HR wise I was fine though.

Lums - if i hadn't had some company yesterday i might have canned it too i reckon. When that medal is round your neck after Abingdon all those training miles will be a memory. 7 weeks to go Lums and then we can all relax. Best of Luck |

Why is everyone so excited about this and I'm shitting bricks? I did 19 on saturday and it nearly killed me! I'm planning to do the Dunstable 20 miler, as my last long one before Abingdon, looks a good run and perfectly placed to me...

excited? Once I've got Derwentwater, RNR, JW30 and Hatton 5 out of the way I might be able to start getting excited. I might be able to start doing some marathon specific training too. Or will I be tapering by then? LOL

If I wasn't doing Berlin on 28th I too would do the Dunstable, it'd be perfect, I love that kind of race. Micknphil - one thing is for sure: you'll leave me for dust from the start ... but I aim to catch up again at the entrance to the stadium where i caught you last time ... this time, though, we'll get there at 3:57

RD - i was thinking a similar thing about the drive home after Abingdon. I'm sure cake, crisps, chocolate and fizzy pop will refuel me enough though for the trip home;)
