bleurgh parents evening done, another one next week but think that is it for the(academic) year, yay! The kids must be talking about me at home because one of the dads came in and gave me an update on the Chelsea score before finding out how son is doing :) Anyhooo, things are likely to get a litte more settled after next week so running will get a chance of being done instead of one of the things that gets pushed to the side in favour of other stuff

wow at your run today Bint, that is further than my fetch race finder is set for never mind as a run!!

Your XH is well out of order, Meg. I reckon some of Sahrktopus' nastier cousins should pay him a visit.

Hurrah, rejoined my usual 5 mile group at club run and kept up without any trouble - though having said that our leader was feeling below par so we weren't exactly racing along. At last I have achieved 10% of the mileage target for the year :-)

I haven't been on since early yesterday, but had a quick scan.

LD, well done on breaking your 42 year musical silence. I remember taking part in the Llangollen International Eisteddfod as part of our college Folk Choir in 1971, and 6 months later I got married. This Saturday I am singing as part of a combined Male Voice Choir Rally in Swansea. Our 40 or so men at Swansea are being joined by choirs and individuals from Cardiff, Newport, West and South-West of England, and even from further afield.

This morning wifey and I went for a very easy-paced 2.50 miles in the roads and paths near home.

hello carp (waves from the other side of the parents evening desk), I don't mind parents evening since its nice to meet the kids folks but I don't really feel as though I am imparting that much of importance to them; the kids and I know what the targets are and the parents (unfortunately) don't know enough of how the system works to make it worthwhile for them. I feel as though I am really just telling them that their kid is doing ok/as well as they can and that they are a nice human being and will probably end up alright in the end so not to worry too much whilst we get on with the whole education thing :) Anyway, don't feel sorry for us, we get paid for it and if we didn't fancy that or the marking or whatever then we shouldn't be teachers (more of that in a blog coming your way soon folks, 'Jac weeps about the arses who really ought not to be teachers because, lets be honest, the kids deserve better than any eejit who is in it because of any reason other than wanting the best outcome for their classes', may have to work on my title to make it snappier and more catching ;)

Interesting jacs as a parent I've always slightly felt this way. Somewhat surplus to requirements! DD2's new secondary school make a real effort to educate us parents about how the system works which is helpful.

I was a governor for over 7 years so I have a basic understanding of the levels and what they're supposed to mean. I just find parents' evening at secondary school really boring. 2+ hours to speak with 4 teachers, all of whom said the same thing, which I knew anyway - kid's doing good, needs to push himself a bit. I thought the poor teachers, there for an additional 3-4 hours, must geta bit bored saying some variation on the same thing to a procession of parents!

Still lacking voice and getting rather bunged up with snot now :-(

Texted XH to tell him not to discuss at work any more and he managed to send three texts telling me how horrible I was without actually agreeing. *sigh*
Words from a wise friend have helped tonight. After that I replied to XH with "whatever"!

Foam rollers are a revelation. I too have the Grid, which though pricy is well constructed. It is hard though and I find using it on my ITB can be painful. I also have a softer roller from Argos which is cheap and cheerful and does the job. I use them especially for quadriceps and piriformis. Sorted out my knee problem last summer. Every runner should have one :)
