Bus is very expensive with changes and its not too convinient either, Ive used it when my car is in the garage. I did used to cycle to work but I hated it, and I was hoping to use the time to get some running miles in. You are right though, it is a big jump. Maybe if I do it just one day a week for a while, then two...

10 more long runs should be ok Carp. Do you have a goal?

One day a week to start with sounds sensible RotJ.

I was hoping for sub-5 but as it's my first marathon it doesn't really matter.

How about get the first bus and then run from there instead of changing buses, RotJ? Or cycle in, leave your bike at work, run home, then reverse the next day.
Sounds like you'll be ok still trainingwise, Carp :)

Im sure you'll be fine in the remaining weeks... just one lesson I could share if I may? Make sure you include weeks where you reduce mileage. Dont go go for increased mileage on the long run every week. Your body will need at least 2 cut back weeks in the remaining time.

The route is really stupid and the place where it changes isnt actually any closer to work than my house! Id have to into the city, and then back out again. Ive looked into the bike thing before and I cant leave it overnight. Nothing's ever easy is it?! ;)

I'm being a wuss too, HB, I should have beasted my legs into running home last night and not let them get the better of me.

Oh well. Too late now. And it was the shortest of the runs I do each week, and I can work hard on my intervals at bootcamp tomorrow night, so all is not lost.

Carp - for your first marathon don't even look at the time. Enjoy it. Experience it. You can think about going faster in your next marathon ... ;-)

You can do multiple runs in a day Jusi but you just need to build up to it.

I once ran 11 10Ks in one day once.

As we looked at the rain lashing the windscreen this evening, Mr AL already soaked from walking from work to the track, I said 'I could go tomorrow morning' and he said 'I could go in the afternoon' and we agreed to go home!!

Urgh best choice AL, I've just got back from the wettest run ever. Also discovered my new jacket isn't really all that waterproof... Very soggy :( I'm not usually bothered by the rain but I just didn't get warm tonight at all. Still, got 4.3 miles in (should've been 5 but made the decision to cut it short for foooood and a hot shower!)

This winter has been relentlessly wet - a spot of dry and cold wouldn't go amiss! Well done to those who did run in the miserable weather. I didn't get out after all but it's at the top of my to-do list for tomorrow - rain or shine!
