I kind of think - like Jenny I guess - one needs to rethink goals and aspirations. Learning new things has always been a big motivator for me and I don't see any reason to change that now.

I love learning new things! It’s what makes me happy. Training’s going pretty well thanks Sharkie, I don’t know how to train for it so I’m just training for a half marathon distance and hoping for the best. I’m running 3 times a week and doing 2 strength sessions. It’s about 9 weeks away so I’ve got some time. I’m really enjoying the training

Sharkie, I can see that if you are a sprinter it must be so hard to let go of speed. I hope your new events go well 😀

Thanks Steve for the link to that BBC podcast. Lots of interesting material. I was especially interested in the stuff about balance and falling safely, as I fall frequently these days. The discussion of motivation was also great.

I hope the New Year is looking kindly on all of us who are ‘60 plus - still stormin' (and/or struggling)’. Despite some recent health concerns I am still getting out for a run or a walk on the fells every day: typically I do about 5-6 runs per week and 2-3 walks, all slow. |
