I am still here, struggling with an injury but following C25K, ran for a full 20 minutes yesterday, it was good, hoping I get the treatment I need soon so I can get back to serious training ![]() |

I am still here. Struggling a lot less these days than I was! Happily strength training several times a week, including an hour’s PT with my body building trainer at the Big Boys’ Gym. Running three times a week including a longer run (up to 7 miles now) and a parkrun. I’m 72 tomorrow!

How fabulous to see that Mrs Jigs and Jenny are still going strong! Jenny - your regime sounds absolutely excellent, great to see you fully back in the groove again. Mrs J, sorry to hear you have had some struggles recently - I do feel your pain as I have had a year of very slow but steady return to running after almost a year out with knee arthritis. You are such a brilliant and inspirational runner, I wish you all the very best with your return to form - I hope 2023 will be a better year for you. I thought my running career was well and truly over, but the knee did finally recover and I was able to come back, very slowly, via C25K and a very slow and cautious build up from that. Now running a lot less (3 or sometimes 4 times a week), not running such long distances (up to just over 10 miles last Sunday, which is my longest run this year) and definitely running a lot slower than I once did. I am learning to adjust my expectations and, as my cousin (who is also a running coach) said to me recently - 'comparison is the thief of joy' Aint that a fact!! I still cant stop myself feeling envious of people who are just better runners than me, and comparing myself unfavourably to them, but I consciously try to be kinder to myself these days, and remember how far I've come since I had to stop running altogether. Big love to all you 60+ superstars! |

Smashing, storming blog, Malt Drinker. And lovely to hear from Schnecke… whose cousin is very wise. I’m still on course for my ‘Seven at 70’ … complete a real heptathlon next summer. I’m 70 in January. |

I have a ‘two at seventy’ challenge to myself. A sub-30 Parkrun (requires me to maintain my current standard for another 11 months) and a sub-60 10k (requires an improvement of about 3% on my WAVA).
