Sorry, hit return a bit early. Fetch has some nice WAVA calculators. fetcheveryone.com/training-calculators-reversewava.php?wava=70&age=65 which can be to find, for example, what times you need to hit wava 70 at age 65. I think it is good to have some speed targets. Since last December I have gone for quantity rather than quality and now my speed has dropped a lot in in just one year duh.

I think my own targets need to be similar, then, but I need to wait for the snow and ice to go ![]() |

Mrs. Jigs is far too modest. There are not many Fetchies who can claim a genuine 90% WAVA. And I'm not sure there are any others who have topped the UK age group for the marathon distance. She did, age 61 with a 3:25 in Hamburg. She is a superb marathon runner and only slightly less good at shorter distances. Interestingly as athletes (we are friends) we are diametric opposites. Her wava scores go up and up on the way to the marathon - mine get better the shorter the distance right down to 60m. That's metres not miles! |

Dibble
ooh a 60 plus thread, I must follow this! I see that way back on Page 3 chunkywizard wrote that Has Dibble stuck his head in yet? He still regularly beats me at races... Well 31 months and 350 posts later I've finally found it, so I had better think up some targets to share for 2022. I should acknowledge that CW finished well ahead of me at parkrun last month (though I just beat him at VMLM). |

Thank you Sharkie, those days are behind me now, I will still strive to do the best I can. You are clearly built for speed whilst I am built for endurance ![]() |

Columba
I remember Ceal. And I remember Forest Plodder. Both encountered initially on Runners World. While I'm certainly old enough for this thread, my running definitely can't be described as "storming". "Just keep it going", more like. |

Me too Columba. I did manage to achieve 70% WAVA a few times, bit never reached the giddy heights of Mrs. Jiggs or Ceal
