I’m going to meet her for a coffee and a chat next week so I’ll report back.

That's another plus - talking to her first. Really important to discuss what you want to achieve and how she might help. I had a half hour chat with Gemma before signing up and managed to tentatively ask her if she thought it was bonkers trying to learn sprint hurdles from scratch in my late 60s. I think she needed to meet me in the flesh to give me an honest answer to that. |

I was pleased she suggested kicking things off that way rather than booking me in for some sort of scary assessment session. She said I need to ‘think big’ so I’ll be very interested in what she thinks that might entail!

Just came across this thread. I vacillate between wanting to train properly and smartly to see what I can really still achieve, and just keeping on plodding. The latter (99% in beautiful off-road scenery) is certainly good for my mental well-being, but maybe not really challenging. I'm now 67, with moderate to severe arthritis in my knee, so any distance on a hard surface is out I think. Managed a ten mile trail /cross country run yesterday without too much difficultly. |

I'd fogotten all about this thread. And indeed, it seems to have been very quiet for the best part of the year. Sharkie, as someone else said (might have been Mrs. Jigs) I am not surprised but very impressed at your plan for your 70th. |
