Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Yes I am still hoping to do it (I don't think entries open til the New Year) though after mornings like today I wonder if I'm being hopelessly unrealistic.

It was just a bad day, Daisy, probably on account of your not having recovered from the cold.

V'rap reminded me that this thread is here for the Golden Girls (and Boys) of Fetch :-) I have indeed entered my first ever marathon. It''ll be three weeks before my 66th birthday. What could possibly go wrong :-)

And in case you're not a Treasure Hunter, here's fellow Fetchie and clubmate Virginia who will be celebrating her 80th birthday later this year by running the Comrades Ultra later this year
I'm quite sure she'll make it. She's done all six World Majors marathons in her 70's, winning her age category in New York!

Wow, Daisy - I thought you EVER said never! I'm sure you'll be fab though.

At the other end of the distance scale I'm aiming for a PB at my 60m and hope to nudge that bit closer to 90% WAVA. Could be deluded of course!

Excellent LD, nothing like giving yourself a new challenge to keep yourself motivated :-)

Hope you enjoy the training for the marathon as well as the race.

Thanks both - as it's an off-road, LDWA event I'm going for the 'Good day out' approach rather than 'This is a PB race' :-) A load of friends of similar vintage are doing it too, which should make the training fun.

I'm all for doing new things and changing your mind!

Are you going to adopt Doc Moye's admiral London mantra of 'smile all the way round'?
