Oh we’ve all gone quiet. How is everyone? I ran/walked 10 miles today - it’s my new thing, having had a shocker of a race at the Liverpool Rock n Roll Half. I would have done better taking walk breaks from the start instead of trailing along the side of the Mersey into a headwind, feeling like death.

No the half was a couple of weeks ago. PW by about 18 minutes so I was gutted, especially as I’d trained quite well (I thought) for it.
I’m not sure yet about run/walk. It’s hard to get the ratio right and I don’t buy all this Jeff Galloway stuff (his books are DREADFUL). But needs must at the moment I think, certainly for longer runs.

Mrs Jigs (Luverlylegs)
I have entered Poznan marathon, been steadily increasing mileage over the last couple of weeks, did Rutland Water 15 miles today, concentrating on getting time on my feet before starting some speed work.
Sorry to hear your half wasn't as you would have wished Jenny

I think there were a few reasons Mrs Jigs - I’d had a bad cold 10 days before, had cystitis (lovely) and just generally felt poo from the start. It was much hillier than I thought too, although that wouldn’t have been a problem normally.
Hope your marathon training goes well. I might possibly be doing Yorkshire marathon in October. Maybe.

Just feeling generally grim can have a big effect on times. If you'd trained well then given a bit more luck that should show up in a race soon?
Interested to hear how it all goes Mrs. J. Was the 15 miler the longest for a while?

I'm slowly making progress with my overuse injury. I competed yesterday but decided not to run the 100 (or 200). My long jump - which I have trained for - was disappointing but it was good to get through the day with no illeffects even if I wasn;t firing on all cylinders.
I did three throws - shot, jav and discus. Discus went very well, 3rd best throw ever and the two better ones were both at a dedicated 'Throws Fest' - an Open dedicated to throws. Yesterday was Southern Athletics League at Luton.

I don’t know Sharkie, I think I’m getting slower and slower all the time. Well done on progress with your injury- I can imagine how frustrating it must be.

Oh I do understand that feeling! It's hard to keep the faith isn't it?
I looked at your results and saw that you ran a very good 10k last Nov - but looks like you haven't been abe to replicate that form since. Now I would go into a decline .... but realistically that's not even a year ago and the two subsequent 10ks were also good - just not quite AS good.
I bet you just need the right race, right conditions, right head on!
