Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

After an injury prone start to the year I'd been concentrating on getting my speed back. Unfortunately this has been at the expense of building up my stamina. My race today saw 3 of the miles at sub 7, but the 6th mile saw my legs refusing to cooperate and was closer to 8. Honestly doubt I could have completed 7!
I've realised I'm still not race fit, still on the road to recovery. As Sharkie says it takes time.

I think June will see more slower, longer runs just to build up some reserves.

well who would have thought it - a lifetime best at 65 :). OK so it was in swimming rather than running, but hey what's not to like! [8.16 for 400m front crawl, and a 4.01 200m PB in the middle of it]

That's fantastic Macca! I bet that's the result of hard work but how good to know it's worth it :-)

Great Stuff Macca. I have no idea about swim times but I DO understand the satisfaction of a lifetime best. very sweet at 65!

@rjb - Hmm yes, as soon as we regain confidence in one element that's suffered - we then realise someting else might have been neglected. Blanace in all matters ... so bloody difficult to get right!

There doesn’t seem to be a standard WAVA converter for swimming but the world best at 65 is 5.09 which I think would put my swim in the middle 60% .....:)

It would be great if I could type balance never mind achieve it in all things.

Hope I haven't overdone it on my quest to get back competition fitness: I have serious leg soreness today after sprinting and long jumping yesterday. Fingers crossed it's just DOMS as I haven't long jumped for nearly two months - and it's quite an extreme movement (even at my age).

Ooh Sharkie, fingers crossed that it is just DOMS.

Well done on the swimming Macca, I know nothing about swimming but sounds a good personal achievement.

I am trying to get back into a routine of running, June is the tester for me, if all goes well I shall deploy the marathon training plan, wish me luck.
