I can leave miles in 1/4’s but if it’s .75 I’ll generally round it up

I'm like GG. Usually, all my runs are whole miles or halves. Sometimes I run past our road and back again to get it right. If I do 4.94ml. I count it as that, and then do the extra 0.06 next time. I have to be honest to myself! Regarding metric measurements, I know the conversions, so if I'm doing intervals etc., I'll do that in metres, so I'll aim to do a total distance of say 8.05 km. or maybe 6.44km.

Gosh it’s amazing all the strange things we do! And runners certainly have a range of things we get focused on (I’m sure I have my fair share of oddities too).

I’ll put away the CBT therapist in me and not try to do therapy on you all 😂

But I may throw some odd and incomplete numbers into the group every now and then 😈

I ran a “not parkrun” this afternoon around Farmoor Reservoir which is 2.92 miles around. Having done the circuit, I then had to run around the car park until I hit 3.11.
By the time I got back to the car I’d made it up to 3.17, but I wasn’t in any fit state to want to round up! My fastest 5k this year, so I think I earned the right not to be anal!

Thanks Ev. I’ve run faster 5ks but not for 12 months, so it’s nice to know that I’ve still got it somewhere!
Most of my recent runs have been mainly off road, so although speed has been lacking it does help with stamina I think.

Thanks to a good build up at the beginning of the year, I'm amazingly just clinging on to my target miles, despite not having really run much for 3 to 4 weeks. It's hard to prioritise exercise when I'm living among boxes and building furniture in my new place, but I've blocked out an hour each work day this week with the aim of getting out for a walk/run and hope to ease back into clocking up a few miles each week.

How has the move gone? Are you loving having all this space? Is your new area nice albeit different from the coast. So glad it finally came through for you

About This Thread

*EDIT* in the current situation we are not entering races but I think we can still log any plans we may have over the coming months, whether it is learning a new skill, ticking jobs off a list, moving house(!), doing alternative exercise, aiming for training hours instead of miles, writing to family & friends, finding inventive ways to be together virtually or even entering virus races please fill in the planner and I’ll update this thread and keep our little social group going to share our goals.

Everyone is welcome, whether you don't want to set an official target or you may be aiming further but still want to pop by for a chat/offer some words of wisdom or just because the door is always open and kettle is on.

(When you go in give yourself a colour so I know you're wanting to be on the sheet so I can keep it tidy)

If you update the race planner after I've updated the header drop me an fmail or a reminder (or 2) on the thread so I know to update. Thanks
