I just remember that I started from zero with press-ups: couldn't do a single one. Must admit that the last five in the set might occur after a teeny breather; but there will come a day when I don't need that.
ITG 🇮🇸 Feb 2021 11:09am, 8 Feb 2021 11,808 posts	ITG 🇮🇸 Absolutely! When I started, I couldn't even do a proper push up on my knees! I was on my back doing presses with 5k dumbbells in each hand. Now I do a very nice push-up, albeit not very many in a row. It was the same with pull-ups. Utterly crap, but gradually reduced the size of the lifty-uppy-band [technical crossfit term]. Sadly, I haven't done a pull-up for months owing to lockdown and I dare say I'll need to use the band again for a bit when the gym opens.
Dave A Feb 2021 11:34am, 8 Feb 2021 22,797 posts	Dave A ITG: so I wouldn’t have to use a gym when I started doing weights again, and needing to do pull ups as part of my exercise, I bought one of those bars that goes above doorways. Mine cost £5. The subscription for my local sports centre is £49 per month. The only problem is that it is t really designed for a cross fit support band to be used with it.
