Franz Ferdinand are utterly wank. I went to see them in Bradford with a couple of mates years ago and I’d gotten them mixed up with the Scissor Sisters. Worst gig ever for me

I thought they were Scottish rather than from Eastbourne though?

I always thought there should have been an FF covers band named Gavrilo Princip.

Welsh corner: Moderately successful 90s bands who should should have been massive: Super Furry Animals and Gorky's Zygotic Mynci.

Massively successful 90s band who were utter wank: Stereophonics.

That’s weird. This popped into my brain on the drive down to the south coast:

For reasons unknown I always assumed GG were all Welsh. Seems they are from London and Scotland, apart from John Patrick 'Pugwash' Weathers.

Simon Dupree And The Big Sound developed into Gentle Giant. Their 1967 single, 'Kites' remains a very strong favourite of my aspirational hippy years. Scottish footnote: two of the three Shulman brothers were born in Glasgow; the third in Portsmouth. Of Scottish-Jewish ancestry.

Since we’re going a long way back and we’ve been talking about properly bad bands…

Swit - I’ve got Kites set up to listen to on the drive home. I’m not sure I know it.

GregP The woman in the Youtube pic ^ may be the person who contributed the unverified Japanese spoken words to 'Kites'.
