Happy new year to all ๐ Hopefully on the come back from injury and feeling positive so thought I'd try starting a new thread. Anyone else aiming for about 2,500 miles this year? |

If I can stay not too injured I'd like to hit somewhere around 2500 miles. Expected to do it last year, but came up way short in the end.

Great stuff. Think it'll partly boil down to trying to stay niggle free for me also๐ Had 2 DNS in 2014 and 2015 for my first crack at a marathon so hopefully 3rd time lucky this year! |

I've managed this in 3 out of the last 4 years, while failing to reach 3000, so might as well have this as a target for this year.

Hi Becca7. Can I ask how you did it before - was it running most days, doubles or plenty of long runs? Thanks

I tend to run 6 or 7 days a week, normally one run a day. My mileage has been in the 2500 to 2750 range during the years when I've had an ultra as my main target race. In one of those weeks it would typically be Monday cross train, Tuesday at least 10 miles, Wednesday 5, Thursday at least 10, Friday 5 or rest, Saturday 5 to 10, Sunday long run or race. I train like that in the first half of the year, have a lighter summer to recover, then train for a fast-ish autumn marathon and have a lighter end to the year.

Also achieved for the last 3 years so hopefully barring injury or disaster then should be on again.

Lol, as my 3000 thread hasnt had many takers then I am in here as well. I have 4 years in a row of 2500 + now, but like Becca now managed to crack 3000 yet

Blimey Feel like I don't quite have the running pedigree of everyone else here on his thread๐ Gonna try and stay niggle free and consistent - I guess the whole slowly slowly catchy monkey tactic. So far weekly schedule includes doubles only because it fits with work and I seem most consistent with them. One or two med long runs midweek and then something longer at the w/e. |
