Some good points being made, thanks. I don't know who'll be in the group, they have not volunteered yet. Some may be active non-runners ie football/cycling etc, others may not be taking any exercise at all. I may have to work that into the programme with a 60 minute group and a "get you round" group.

I think for people who are coming from a base of being not very fit, "get you round" is a good target... while it doesn't sound like far to people who run a lot, completing a 10k is a big achievement for someone who has been a non-runner and you don't want people to be disheartened by failing to reach a time target. They can set a time target for the second one :)
