Arse, feck, arse, arse, feck. On 91 miles, with a half mara this coming weekend and for no apparent reason what so ever my right Achilles is aching rather badly. No knock or run even, just woke up liek it yesterday. Any clues?

Week-before-race syndrome? I regularly fall to pieces in the week before a race as my body tries to get itself out of having to endure the pain.

I would run on it, and if it feels very bad, don't race at all, unless you're depending on the prize money for next week's groceries, in which case as you were.

Hmmm, depending on prize money, well I might do a 1.45 but somehow I don't think that's a winning time on this occasion. So a short stride out tonight shall be in order, thanks Mac.

Thats annoying. Have you tried stretching it, icing it (not to eat), massaging it and ibuprofen for a day or so.
Good luck with it

I try not to Ibuprofen too much as I have a habit of ignoring pain and doing more damage that way.

I only use ibu as an anti inflamatory usually before I go to bed if I have a niggle.
