Question!! Penciled in for my 1st ultra in Oct - 64 miles. Looking to do a couple of long runs over the next couple of weeks but 2 ultra vets have given me different advice on what to do...either 30/33 mile runs or do 20 miles in the morning and 15 later in the day any advice on which is the better option?

Psychologically I like the long runs... But I really don't think it matters

Why do you think it doesn't matter? I just kinda thought that if I break it up into 2 runs, my legs would rest and I wouldn't get a feel for how the run would feel on the day

Miles are miles I think you will be fine with whatever preparation that YOU think is best for you. If you think you are ready then you are. That is the real issue, preparation is just about putting you head in the right place. Your body will follow if that's the case in my limited experience.
What run are you doing?

I would be inclined to go for the longer runs rather than doubles warriorsg. Gets you more used to running on tired legs. Ask this on the ultra thread though if you want a greater range of views. Longest I have raced is 34 miles so I'm no expert.
191 for the month, highest monthly mileage ever for me.

Thanks for that and I'm running the Norfolk ultra. As for feeling ready - well It's a couple in my club who run all the ultras, MDS and anything else thats insane that think I'm ready by what I've achieved this year. I think I can give a good account of myself, but it's still a bit daunting

Yes, it is daunting but as you will know it is a different style of race to marathons and shorter and a different experience. Slower pace, more walking, more fuelling en route.
