Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch
or for an ad-free Fetcheveryone experience!

I'm no LDWA fan & only doing it as North Devon is full & Greensands Ridge won't count this year & i'm after a streak of 50 consecutive months with a marathon.

LDWA serve a useful purpose for us wannabe wannabes.

Couldn't do the Mauritius Marathon this year but could definitely be tempted in the future.

The LDWA are great events, you can race them if you want you know N, it's not all tea drinking. They don't do any road events though.

You can sort of race them, but getting through the checkpoints is never going to be quick. They got very upset with the front runners (Mark Sleeman????) getting impatient in Pathfinder last year.

They are great events and very useful if you need numbers, especially over the summer and depths of winter, it's just a personal thing, they don't feel like proper marathons to me. I think it's because they're not races, it's the competitive element that makes it more like a marathon for me. Very subjective of course.

Surely being a front runner shouldn't be a problem to you N? ;-)

Indeed, I'd never be up front, especially off road. Just getting more purist about my marathons, once I've got my 100, next on the list is 100 road events (mara/ultra).

I know michael's a purist too & wouldn't count Ultras in his totals.

I'm retiring from off roaders on Sept 11th at the 2togo (but that's hardly an off roader really !)

I'm not even a wannabe for road marathons yet. I think I've done 45, so day 5 of the TiT should make me a wannabe according to Naomi's strict rules. :-P
