Good luck with the sub 3 ogee - I'm pretty sure you can do it.
It's interesting reading about all these start issues. As my PB is only a bit sub 4, this is like a different world. Maybe I'll have a go at trying to be a bit quicker in a year or two when I'm not doing so many longer runs.
Now, on a slightly different topic: whilst my 100th should be at Paris, it looks like I'll be having the presentation at Brighton on the 18th April. Who's gonna be there?

well last year i had a bit of nightmare, plenty of people in pen 1 on the blue start that had a 4 hour target ... so many people that about half a mile in the race I had to walk for 30 s maybe blue start is worse?

The blue start is just a general start for club, ballot and charity runners Contro - GFA is more restricted in who gets to start there, that's probably the difference. TBH I would never do London off a general mass start, if I fail to get GFA one year I'm not going to bother for exactly the reasons you describe!
N, All this appears on the website nearer the time, and is also in the magazines that runners get. They tell you which start you are on based on what your race number is.

Ta Kinky. Just being impatient.. Agree, I wouldn't run VLM off a mass start either, that's valuable pub time you're wasting.

I think the final instructions only appear a couple of weeks before the race. I guess they want to make sure everything is finally and definitely confirmed before telling everyone?

I should add that last year, they changed the GFA starts after they had already issued race numbers, and so some people's number and start actually changed (mine included, I was moved from green to red), so there is no guarantee that what I have said will stay the same this year...

I don't think so Sarah, I'm not targeting any individual marathon this spring, just want to get used to running them at a comfortable pace. If it's not crowded, 3'45 will be fine. Are you having a bash at it?
