Just back from my latest: The Edge Challenge: fun fun fun fun in the peak district, running/trudging and trying to find the correct route with Donny Lad for most of the way.
part of the challenge was trying to work out whether the route directions really meant "left" when they said "right" etc. Half the time they did .... a little over 27 miles on difficult ground. Need a bath.

After yesterdays Edge trail race, I am convinced that road marathons are a much easier option. I would still be wandering in the peak district now if it wasn't for BW's gps navigation. good fun though!

Good fun in retrospect! But how does a trail race compare with a track event? I am not sure how you can manage like the 126miles Doncaster 24hour track event under your belt. That surely must be the most difficult! Thinking about doing a 6 hour race in Boston (Lincs, not MA) next weekend.

BW, do it!! I will be there, 1 mile loops sound much better than a track race!

Just catching up after watching England win The Ashes back Hope Cornish Eva had a fab day at The Oval.
Earlier today I did the Dorset Doddle which frankly was cruelty to dumb animals (32 miles.......33 for me) up and down the Coast Path between Weymouth and Swanage. This would be a seriously tough walk let alone a run and was (as expected really) easily the toughest race I have ever done. If you hear me mention doing this again next year then you have my permission to shoot me. Still number 23 in the bag.
A day of thrills and spills, unfortunately more of the spills. I took a tumble down a steep hill at 8 miles but escaped with a grazed and bruised knee and elbow. No dramas however. At a CP later my mum decided to run over to me with flip flops on and took a horrible tumble in the dust, left her with a black eye and a nasty cut chin that we managed to patch up with steri strips and some bandage (Thank you to the nice lady in the caravan who came to help with her first aid kit). On I went and was doing well making up a bit of lost time until mile 31 when I got totally lost with the really poor directions through the centre of Swanage and playing serious dodgeball with the grockles. 45 minutes of faff and my 5:xx time turned into 6:18. Winner was 5:25 so I would have been nicely placed (probably still was but lost a lot of time). I won't mention that the 2nd and 3rd place runners missed out a CP and therefore IMHO should have been DQ'd, but apparently the LDWA didn't either notice or care. Not impressed with the organization and I won't be back anyway.
Rant over, hope Naomi and Anna had a better day.

Sounds a tough one. I remember going wrong in the last mile of Chatworth challenge, I ended up adding 2 miles to the 25.5 taking my over marathon distnace for the first time ever. I was crying near the end cos I was so lost and it had just started tipping it down with rain!!!!
Hope you got good cakes though?!!
