Oscar's Everyone Day

23rd June 2024
In 2021 Oscar the Grouch proposed one day each year where "we unite as a community and EVERYONE records an activity of some sort - a dog walk, a run, a swim, a ride, ski if you want...".

Sadly we lost Oscar in March, so I'd like to dedicate Everyone Day to him. Thank you for the inspiration you gave us Oscar.

ClaireT An improvement of 90s from last years race, but not entirely chuffed as was aiming for sub-40. Legs didn't seem to want to change gear, back to the speedwork I guess! Good day out though, perfect weather and great atmosphere around the course. 45th lady. Victoria Park - City of Glasgow AC, Scottish Veteran Harriers Club 38:11 38:59 40:43 73.25
Clumsula Serious lack of training and illness really showed. At around 6k both ankles started aching and I walked for quite a bit. Took it slowly after that, and as I turned into Msspark Blvd for the finish, I just couldn't get any breath in my lungs. Headed for finish line and first aiders, who turned out to be right beside hubby and the kids, so I just sort of smiled and carried on........took a while to get breathing back to normal. Debstir Unofficial time 49:53. It's only taken me 11 years to get my sub-50 10k!! Perfect weather, great support especially at the end where I was almost throwing up with pure effort - not what they were wanting to watch! Legs, or rather thighs went dead going up the hill through Pollock Park but I knew I was too close to sub-50 to slow down; the last 3k were torture. Not sure if I'd do this again - have run it about 8 or 9 times now and it's losing that special quality it has, or had. But I got sub-50 so there's every possibility I will! Nice to bump in to Libby at the end too. UPDATE - official results now online - 49:48!!! Even better than I thought! Will be harder to beat though... :-) Unaffiliated 48:30 49:48 49:48 60.33
Gus The way I've been feeling, it will be a miracle if I manage to finish in 68 minutes. Unofficail time 75min. Since this is 5 minutes faster that last year I should be pleased and since two weeks ago I was coughing and wheezing like an old woman, I've decided that I am. Great atmosphere, and the reception at the finish was as usual superb. Jogscotland On The Run Cumbernauld 1:04:16 1:08:01 1:08:00 1:14:49 45.53
