I believe you're safe from the "duplicate thread" police SB although there was some discussion on this years race at the end of last years thread (http://www.fetcheveryone.com/viewtopic.php?id=46228&page=179). I'm in, although my current thinking is I'll either pace my mate to sub4 or possibly defer as I'm planning on focusing on 10k/HM this spring. |

Well timed Deferral I reckon RM hopefully the weather will be better this year Why did you leave it so long Mushroom... was the first one that bad? Nelly I did check as I know how the 'DT' Police can be and did find the old thread, ut since no one had posted I thought I'd start a new one. Even if you paced your mate - would the longer runs not help with the H/M focus? |

Yep, I've entered. Should probably train for it, or something.

I wouldnt say well timed, id say more luckily timed to get an injury. Looking forward to it this year though, and think il be better prepared. Id been looking recently for a thread on it. Anyone know any cheap B&Bs near by, or anything? |

Hi SB To be honest it hasn't really appealed in the meantime. I was a beginner runner at the 1990 London Marathon and, following a 'get you round' plan I only did a couple of runs over 16/17 miles. The wheels fell off at about 18 miles and the last 8 miles were slow and painful. I've gained some motivation to have another go just by reading some of the blogs from other Fetchies, but I only want to do it if I prepare better and improve the training over last time - I'm trying to avoid repeating that last 8miles! Training's going well and I'm over 18miles so I'm hopeful |

Mushroom, my training for my last marathon was similar. I didnt do a run over 16 miles. And no surprises, in the marathon I really struggled after 16. I had a very strong first half which made sure I ended with a fairly quick time, but the last 10 miles, there was a lot of walking and it was very hard work to keep going. I love doing 10ks and shorter distances, but I love the idea of being a marathoner so sticking at it.
