Nice to see the recoveries going well for many and already planning ahead for more miles training/racing over summer and the Autumn marathon destination decisions.
Felt a bit off form last few weeks and a below par 10 mile race coupled with a couple of treadmill speed sessions cut short I have been struggling a little mentally for my spring marathon effort.
Bring on more of today`s sunshine though and things could be back on the up. 16 miles with 15 at or around PMP!? not sure what pace to go for just yet. HR suggests (I think) that there is more there yet. Though not sure I would have ran another 11 miles at todays pace. Well I am sure I wouldn`t, however are we likely to feel we can when in middle of training and not tapered/or fuelled properly etc!?
Split (avHR)
6:51(137), 6:45(149), 6:42(152), 6:49(153), 6:39(153), 6:52(154), 6:42(156), 6:39(154), 6:39(152), 6:34(158), 6:35(159), 6:39(160), 6:35(161), 6:37( 164), 6:40 (165) then mile easy.

From previous marathons I know I can hold 161 - 165ave HR.
What is longest MP run others on thread tackle during their marathon build up??

I would probably like at least one more pretty long one with a few easy miles w/u and few more on end I think.

I've done P&D the last 2 marathons - longest PMP run is 14 ( as part of a 18 miler )

I struggled with most of the MP runs this time around, legs were feeling knackered before I left the house !! That knocked the confidence somewhat, what helped a lot though was a min-taper for a Half 4 weeks before the Mara, and getting a decent time at that.

went out today for the first time since the VLM, ran 6.6 miles in about 50 mins and felt good. Managed to think over a few things while out running.

Apart from the going out too fast the first 15 miles being one of the reasons I suffered, but gaps in my training during the key month of March. 1x 22 mile missed due to TA, 1x 22 replaced by a 14 mile in Madrid while away on a 4 day break. All in I think I missed about 50-60 miles of work during that month.

Can I do the Sub 3:15? I am more determined to do it next year, but I am going to listen to my head the remainder of this year and the biggest run I will be doing is the Southside 6 in Glasgow later in the year.

Thanks for feedback guys. On this basis I shall probably make my furthest MP run 26 then ;-)
I am a bit surprised at 14 miles being longest from a "straw poll" of three of you :-0, suppose it depends what we think the puspose of our MP session is!?

19:26 at Bournemouth Parkrun. PB on the course by 2 seconds. Planned to run at 6:15m/m and did exactly that. Windy conditions too. 19 mile long run today.

Longest MP 11 miles here, sometimes day before a long run, and I never enjoy them. It used to really sap my confidence that they felt so tough, but I've learned that's just the way it is for me. I use them to dial into the pace, so regular MP sessions were a good idea, but they didn't have to be long.

Congrats Iampecunia.
Third run in the Savernake forest yesterday and third time to get lost! It's very big.
