dustboy Started 3-5 minutes late, caught the first of the stragglers after a mile, went over on foot at about mile 3 and lost 400 yards. BUT, ran up Martha on return run WITHOUT STOPPING, HRM holding at steady 202 bpm near the top and not much left in me for 1/4 of a mile. Good lord it was a quagmire. Excellent. RFJ G3 RACE REPORT - Got there, and it was cold wet and foggy, perfect for XC, had a good warm up and stretch and race was delayed for about 10 mins due to late registration etc. Got to the start line and saw 2 lasses on the start line in Nike frees and gym shoes, they pretty much got in the way of everyone at the gun. But hey its there race too. The aim was to go off slow and keep it there, well there was not much I could do with this, very wet underfoot, very muddy and very sandy and very, very hilly....... Had a few ding dong battles with several runners, won some lost some. Realised near the end that this was going to be much longer than 10K, and was closer to 11.5k, came home in 94th (294 running) in 1:02:17, even though I was trying to hold back, this took a lot out of me - too much. Waveydavey This was tough. Ran with a cold, but I don't think it made a great deal of difference. Slippy on the first hill going down. Wheezing a bit on the next hill going up. Walked up the hill to the church, both times. And up sections of the last hill, where the slipperiness of the mud made running counterproductive. Otherwise I was fairly steady.
