Dawid Very difficult conditions, hot weather and race full of people walking from start. First 5k was more about finding a way to run either between slow (walking) runners or on pavement. Overall well organized event with quite good atmosphere. Unaffiliated 51:40 51:40 49:49 51:40 51.10

JasonTheKnight My Garmin showed 6.45 miles!

Seemed poorly organise - baggage collection was a mess. Route was so so.

Race was mainly crippled by the free-for-all start which meant that slower runners frequently (i.e always) got in the way - sometimes there were chains of people walking 5 abreast across the narrow parts!

Obviously I'm no record breaker myself, but I think the race would have been more enjoyable for everyone if they'd spent a bit of time organising the start better so that people started with people of their own ability rather than just first come first serve. mbc Hot morning and lack of recent training meant no PB; if you get near the front then the crowds are not too much of an issue. People were still coming through trafalgar square by the time I had finished. Unaffiliated 39:32 39:32 39:58 41:18 68.47

runningmumof3boys my garmin registered 5.97miles but thats because it appears the forerunner 301 loses signal in tunnels (as i suppose all do) but then doesnt give you the distance covered when you get out the other end as there was NO WAY it took me 30 mins to do 3 miles when i was running under 9 min miles and it said mile 3 took me 12 minutes!!!! my nike plus which is pretty spot on to my pace measured 6.32miles Riverside Runners, Team t club 46:19 56:21 57:35 52.56

SUPERWOMAN63 I have never done this race before and have heard so much about it !!! a lot of negatives ....so we shall see !!!
I have a SORE knee so time will not be as important, getting around the course safely will be enough for me and of course ENJOYING myself along the way. BRING IT ON.
Well l did get round took ages to cross the start line and the route was okay but very congested, no excuses l got around with my knee , quite enjoyable, lack of water, rubbish medal and will not be doing again. Will stick with the Bupa 10,000 beats this event hands down !!!1 Unaffiliated 1:02:32 1:06:06 1:12:31 1:13:23 44.04

TheDuke A PB was never going to happen in this race.
Joined the back of the field just as the gun went off and crossed the start line half an hour later. Too many people around to pick up the pace and a lot of them were either running very slowly or walking!!
Felt very tired from my daughter's 18th Birthday party the night before and was glad to get the race over with.
It was more of a fun run and won't be doing it again.
Glad I did it though just for the atmosphere and to say I've done it. Unaffiliated 41:40 43:10 43:15 51:42 54.70
torn For some reason i have been getting slower and slower leading up to the race, i thought on the big day i would run through the doubt and pain, but no. I slipped in a few little walks towards the end. I think the excess heat took toll on my large frame and haviing to pick used water bottles from the floor meant that i could only pour them over me rather than consume them. It was therefore the hardest run to date but by far the best feel that i have had and loads of money raised for Cerebral Palsy Sport. Unaffiliated 1:03:53 1:03:53 59:57 1:12:18 36.85

Tzctfetc Very hot, but that was widely forecast, so one should have been prepared for that (I drank a full litter of fluids with electrolytes, no need for carbs since a good breakfast should be enough for 10K, I just followed Haile Gebrselassie advice: jam on toast and coffee), I was surprised and grateful for the bit of clouds and occasional fresh breeze.

It is quite difficult to think about a fair start system in the constraints of London and with so many people. People coming to really race are choosing the wrong place, this run is to go out for a friendly day of running in an iconic setting.

People running in groups are very inconsiderate, sometimes they form a solid wall and one has to do the impossible to go around them. Fun for them, not for the rest, if you are running in a group could you kindly think about others?

Most people clearly are not reading the rules (slow runners on the right, overtaking on the left), so the few marshals around could remind people of this, or reminders could be put in the Km markers.

I thought my Garmin was broken but clearly the only one broken is the one the organizers are using to measure 10K: I programmed for 10K exactly and it declared the race finished a god 500 or 600 m before the finish line. It is not the first time this happens, but before reading this forum I thought the inaccuracy had something to do with the two stretches in the tunnel around half way, but now it is clear that the organizers are not measuring 10K accurately, which is a shame.

The 10K route is easy to achieve: get rid of the last turn past Westminster Square and move the finish line as needed. It is a shame this most basic feature of a 10K race (getting the distance right) is been disregarded by the organizers.

The medal is perfectly fine, they had had better in other years, but this is par of the course, the goody bag is a bit disappointing, it must be the hard economic times, the granola bar the best of the lot.

Overall a great day out in London. Unaffiliated 1:09:00 1:09:00 1:15:00 1:09:00 40.98
