Boycie 1st day of the year - 1st race of the year and a SB to boot - who'd have thought it huh! Finished 8th overall, but due to the way the prizes worked out, was given 3rd SM and a bottle of wine. 1st 5k - 17.58, 2nd 5k 18.28. The big hill the second time around saps you, as it is a steeper climb and steadier descent and it took me a while to get the lactic out of the legs. Managed a good final km of 3.31 though, which I was pleased with. A good start to the year considering I hadn't done any speed work since prior to the Avon XC champs! DrDebs not sure how fit i am, or how icy those roads will be!!!! Well Happy :-) stuck behind Boycie at the start so i didn't go off like a loonie. The temperature was very, very cold, so lungs were shocked and my right foot was numb for 2 miles! wind in face on miles 2 and 4 really, but behind some of the way. Impossible is Nothing Felt rubbish at the start after a late night but after running conservatively began to feel better around 3k. Finished strongly in nice conditions - coped with hill ok. Result 24th out of 218 Westbury Harriers 37:35 38:48 39:03 69.22
