Schnecke A very nice, scenic course with a fairly long, tough hill in the first half but lots of fast downhill stuff in the second half, and a fast finish. This was the Herts County Vets' 5 mile championship race, and unfortunately that was seriously compromised by all the kids and 'fun runners' at the start who seemed to have no idea about race etiquette and almost tripped me over about 3 times in the first couple of hundred meters! It would have been fine if just kept as a 'fun run', as advertised, but those club runners who were in it for the vets' champs would, I think, have felt that it really wasn't the best race to pick for that purpose! Yes, I am a Grumpy Old Git, but I am also a competitive runner and disliked being referred to as a 'jogger' by one of the marshals ..... North Herts Road Runners 37:49 40:15 40:15 71.63
