Plan was to run the first half in 9.30 miling, and then to run some Marathon pace miles (8.30) toward the end.
Started off slowly, and just ran how I felt (which was faster than 9.30 milin). Bumped into Derek at about 4 miles, and stayed with him until about 12 when I decided to put in my Marathon pace miles. Did the last 8 miles at an average 8.34, considering that the bloody big hill was in there, and the whole course was up & down, I'm pretty pleased with that!
9 weeks before London, so I can race this one and try for a sub 3
A tough course. Marathon prep - but a good 20 mile PB. Nasty scratches on leg because of a bramble attack during a loo stop. But just over 10 min miles, even with tough hills - I am happy.
Entered 19/01/09, got number. This will be my longest distance so far, getting to the finish line will be the goal! *POST RACE* Got round will plenty to spare! Hilly but fun!
Run the nearly 10 for the last 2 years with the race in 2007 being my first race ever (couldnt just be normal and do a 5k or a 10 k could i? Oh no) I came 5th from last but i was hooked.
Turning right rather than left is going to kill me. Mind you so is the 20 miles so pick your poison i guess.
I'll see all you marathon loonies there again this year no cup final after this one !
Hills of Death (HOD)
I found this really hard, first ten great bouncing along with fellow fetchies, 2nd 10 just hang on in there
Using this race to evaluate what shape I'm in for Paris.**UPDATE** challenging course but delighted with a new PB
a lovely run with fetchie friends!
aint got a clue !!! will be longest run yet so dont intend to go too mad !
Loved the race even the hills at 9 and 18, some great company en-route and a great time
Using this as one of my Edinburgh marathon training races so hoping for under 3 hours
Comprehensively undertrained – if I can fluke a sub 3 hrs I’ll be very happy!
First real test to see how the injury will hold up, hoping to run a steady 7 mi/mi pace.UPDATE-Damn those hills!! hit my mile targets pretty much bang on but found it hard going.
this will be my longest run to date but i,m well able of doing 2.30 but put 2.40 because of the unknown
really enjoyable race through Bury villages, well organised.
Hill training required prior to race. Mile 9 hill was a killer!!!
Def a good last race priot to Marathon. I have been told London Marathon is easier than the Bury 20.
