bedlam_g There’s no such thing as an unachievable target. ** Update - Good race, fast downhill’s and some nasty climbs. 8th place and watch time for now, not only did I smash my PB I also beat my dodgy Paisley time. Thought I’d helped win the team prize when I chased down and went past the 2nd Calderglen counter at 9k, but it appears team prizes are the only ones not awarded. Well done to Boab in 2nd place, ClaireT 1st lady and Bodo with a huge PB proving hes more than just a poet - http://www.fetcheveryone.com/member-of-the-month-nominees.php ***

Big C Great race, organised to perfection by Strathaven Striders. Nice to meet Gus, LouLou, Shyfire, Maisie and IanS. Set off at good pace (maybe too good) at c5min for 1st km and 4km in 23 minutes. That was mostly downhill, though, and the uphill started taking its toll on my poorly trained legs from 5km onwards. Great fun, skipped the soup and sandwiches because of the queue - would have had some lovely Strathaven Ale if I'd thought to bring and money. Well done to fetchies who pb'd - I'll be back next year. Boab happy enough with that on a net downhill course. Nearly 2 minutes faster than last year. Slightly bottled it at end as they changed the finish otherwise I could have challenged for 1st. As it was 2nd was good. Worked hard on the flat sections to close the gap but he got me in the climbs every time. It's all good. Finally over the cold/bug that has been bothering me for the last few weeks and felt strong, even with quite a heavy week of training. Unaffiliated 32:25 32:25 32:25 82.52
ChrisU Fast downhill start, then more undulating. Felt pretty sluggish. Finished 8th and 3rd V40. Wrenched my hamstring passing bedlam_g in the finishing straight :-( Cambuslang Harriers, Westerlands Cross Country Club, Scottish Veteran Harriers Club 34:38 34:40 35:19 80.72
ClaireT Watch time. Not on form right now, so I struggled on the uphills and generally felt pants. Glad to finish with a sub-39 time and 1st lady was a nice surprise. Victoria Park - City of Glasgow AC, Scottish Veteran Harriers Club 38:11 38:11 38:41 77.25

gilly b Brilliant race, not quite all downhill. A different finish from last year, with a horrible wee hill thrown in for good measure! I'm really pleased with PB! Unaffiliated 47:58 47:58 50:00 47:58 66.22
Gus Had a really enjoyable run today at Strathaven, and yet another new T-shirt to wear at spin on Wednesday. Oh, and a shiny new pb, must have been the new LS black FETCH shirt:) Nice to meet loads of Fetchies and see a bunch of other ones, who were very fast. My SO had a lovely breakfast in the cafe in the village while I was running and managed to be at the finish to cheer me on just before that last wee hill, what a b*st*rd place to have a hill, I was hoping to manage a sprint finish but I shall pencil this one in for next yea
official times have added an hour, but I don't care, that's the fastest I've ever run:) And I wish I'd placed a bet.

Stig-OT-Dump I was going to be happy with anything under 40 and thought I'd managed it by a whisker. A recent lack of training and giving blood last week have taken a bit out of me. Having said that, I should have been able to go a bit faster on this course and it was a bit disheartening seeing runners I have matched or beaten earlier in the year leaving me in their wake so maybe not as happy as I should've been. Hospitality was top notch though, so many thanks to Strathaven Striders for all the organisation. Unaffiliated 39:38 39:38 39:50 68.78
Triplet Dad Very enjoyable day out - A lovely club event organised in a very friendly way. A big hello to all the fetchies I met - it's lovely being able to put a face to a name. A special thanks to SpicedApple for chumming me through from Edinburgh.

The race itself was great, a bit hillier than I expected it to be from the pre-race blurb though. Went through 4k in under 20 mns which was too fast for me so I blew up at the bottom of the first big hill and had to walk for a bit. Picked up the pace after that for a couple of kilometres but walked again at the sharp hill up by the house at 8k. Felt good at the end and even managed a sprint home. PB by 3 and a half minutes so all is good.

z1000jeff Have never done a 10k race before so predicted time is very much a shot in the dark.
EDIT: Well, that was disappointing ... although at least it shows me where I stand and what I need to do for my 2nd 10K. (At which I PROMISE to PB.)
EDIT: I'm going with my watch time given the controversial chip times. I could hardly believe my eyes at the chip time posted ... so I'm going to pretend it doesn't exist :-) Unaffiliated 42:30 44:58 42:00 44:58 63.91
