_andy The rain held off, but the wind didn't. The sun didn't shine, but the temperature was pretty perfect. I had the most spectacular fall just before 5 miles and even after the first aid folk had a good go, I'm still removing grit from the Coylumbridge road from my palms, elbow and knee. If you see any photos from the race with someone who looks like they've been fighting, that's me. I picked myself up, wiped some of the road from my hands on the grassy verge and tried running again. My right knee was not quite behaving and I was limping, which was bad news. Still, I was moving, so I took it easy until the loch came into view and then tried to re-focus and get back to a sensible pace. It took me about three miles to finally stop and deal with the cause of this - a flapping shoe-lace (triple-laced, but stll came undone - I've been at them with the scissors since). The bicycle track back into Aviemore was entertaining, even if it did wiggle about all over the place and go up and down when the road alongside was nice and flat. Speaking of which the Garmin got 1645ft up and 2035ft down. It's not accurate, I know, but it still says that that it was a damn hilly HM course. Paced it right in the end and still felt quite bouncy over the last few miles. Took 25s off the PB which was a bonus (and not expected, considering the fall), finishing just a second or two behind ClaireT who was running well. Billy-Whizz-Haining Still got the Post Glasgow blues, i felt awful through-out todays run, had to dig very deep in the poor weather conditions to achieve my time over this tougher than thought course, on a positive note though i did break last years course record for the 50+ age catagory by 2 minutes but still managed to get beat, lol, i hope i get over this virus soon as running at the moment isnt fun, also met Fechie Andy today, what a nice lad ad he had a decent run too, well dome m8. ClaireT Not my best run time-wise, found the course a lot tougher than expected and legs were whacked from training. But wow what a scenic route, will have to return there one weekend! For such a large turnout it was really well organized and marshalled. Hats off to _andy for running with a bloody knee and to Drunk Bloke at the start who successfully rescued his lost wallet from the middle of an assult course pond, to rapturous applause from 1200 runners! Oh, I finished 3rd lady. Victoria Park - City of Glasgow AC, Scottish Veteran Harriers Club 1:23:34 1:24:53 1:28:01 73.43
Debstir Started off waaaay too quick and ended up paying for it for the rest of the race. Still managed under 2 hours by quite a bit (for me, and watch time) so well chuffed. Had to borrow a top off a clubmate to wear under my vest cos it was so piggin' cold, and the wind was blimmin' awful at a couple of exposed bits. Still, at least the forecast rain stayed off! Amazingly scenic race and was well organised apart from the water stations - really didn't have enough manning them but if nobody volunteers I suppose you can't blame them for that. Will no doubt be back next year. Unaffiliated 1:54:25 1:55:23 1:55:23 56.42

PentlandPounder Garmin time - PB - very lucky with weather, though a bit windy - really liked the course, undulating and scenic.

RunDMc Still jetlagged, but delighted I made the effort because the scenery was awesome and the event very well organised (except the queues for tea and the lack of fluid immediately upon finishing). Definitely one for next year. Last three miles are still too much of a slog, even going downhill, so I need to work on that; and I need to think more about what I eat in the run-up.

Also learned it's better to be cold for half a mile than too warm for the next twelve.
