Inverness Half-Marathon

Ally C Forecast miserable so I have changed my predicted time. Inverness Half marathon. Started too slowly then picked up pace however ran out of steam in the last 2 miles. Quite happy considering I am in the middle of marathon training. RAF AC, Moray Roadrunners 1:19:02 1:25:19 1:30:00 1:28:18 66.25
Boab 12th position and almost a minute off PB. Pretty controlled race until the last 5K. 5 miles splits were 28:57 then 28:24 (57:21 and 10 mile PB :)) then a pretty tough 18:29 final 5K. Tough head wind on the final 2.5 mile drag was hard and I could feel the early pace too. Pleased with run though and to run a PB off only base miles is a step in the right direction. Watch this space! ;)

Race organisation was superb, quality t-shirts. Weather wasn't as bad as I thought, hard first 5 miles up hill and into the wind, then a sheltered next 5-6 miles with some downhill then a very tough final 2.5 miles home, that road seemed to never end, then a little killer incline in the last K. Great course though, Inverness is a beautiful city and the spectators were superb.

Ultracat my watch will adjust when I see the official chip times. When driving to Inverness from Tain there were some fairly heavy showers, Tain was bathed in lovely sunshine. Got to Inverness and it was fine and sunny if a tad windy. Just when I thought I would go out side to get a signal for my Garmin it started raining. It was a brief shower and mostly throughout the race we had lovely sunshine although there was a cold wind. Managed to keep a good pace throughout but lack of speedwork meant no fast miles. Last mile and a bit was really tough as we turned into an artic wind. Good run and enjoyed it. Driving home we went through a heavy sleet/snow shower which didn't last.
