Las Vegas Marathon

AJPAR Surprisingly cold but well worth it for the first six miles down the strip. The rest of the race was fairly bland until the end when you have to fight your way through hundreds of half mara runners. Unaffiliated 2:57:31 3:09:09 3:15:00 3:09:09 65.44

Foxy What an experience running down the Las Vegas stip dressed as Elvis in full white Jumpsuit & gold rimmed sunglasses - i grew my own sideburns - commitment or what ?!!

On arriving in Vegas I had to head to the Mandalay bay for Press conference & photo shoot, i got collared by Elvi leader Bob Babbitt as i was a fraction late & was briefly interviewed before having to sing a few lines of my favourite Elvis tune suspicious minds.

Then it was time for the Elvis pasta party where New Zealander Rob dixon gave a speech - he was a Munich 72 bronze medalist in the 1500 metres before going on to win the NYC marathon in 1981 (i believe ?)

a plate of pasta later & it was karaoke time - sometime did an excellent suspicious minds & didn't want to be compared to that so instead went for Always on my mind - it wasn't great but it was in deed fun.

Race day started by getting acosted by a Hen party at about 4.30 am - a girl wanted to give elvis a hug & asked have you seen my underwear - i had to reply in Austin Powers style 100 Marathon Club, MK Lakeside Runners, Milton Keynes Lakeside Runners 3:09:27 3:26:47 4:29:59 4:28:22 45.55
