Applecross (unofficial time). Last minute entry to this, as I would've been going for a 10-12 mile run tonight anyway, and, well, why not...? Gorgeous day, fun route through Mugdock park, no *very* scary sections (though am gonna have to work on my hills before 5HoF), took it comparatively easy. Finished 6th lady, I think, so quite pleased. Nice to see JulesR, Loon Dod and meet ClaireT :-) Unaffiliated 1:26:46 1:26:46 1:26:46 62.51
ClaireT Fab sunny evening for this one, was pretty tough mostly off-road going through trees, bogs and burns, steep climbs and drops. You don't know anything about the route or distance in advance. Excellent fun, though was not as 'hellish' or as far as expected, Garmin distance was only 9.45 miles. Nice to meet you Applecross and Jules! Surprised to win prize for 3rd lady (incidentally, a pair of salomon trail shoes and hat, chuffed)! Victoria Park - City of Glasgow AC, Scottish Veteran Harriers Club 1:21:44 1:21:44 1:21:44 66.35

JulesR Took it very easily jogging the first half but picked it up a bit later on. Waist-deep water never happened, but still managed to go over 3 or 4 times. Met ClaireT in last 1/4 mile - 3rd lady v.impressive. Well done Applecross 6th lady too. Nice race route but not sure a Cotswold brochure and Beef Jerky for a veggie in a Goody Bag are the best contents ever. Stirling Triathlon Club 1:21:43 1:21:43 1:39:59 1:21:43 64.19
kyt after friday night's monsoon the organisers must be happy. as much as i think i know mugdock and the surrounding area i'm expecting the worst. can't wait. ::: what a buzz on a great summer evening. ended up taking it easy at first, or so i thought 'til i tried to keep up with my group who also went the scenic way through mugdock wood. ach! i'm way too tentative on downhills and my quads and knees refused to take on most of the last big climb. glad to see so many others walking the really steep sections. that intro to Final Countdown is stuck in my noggin now, which is just unfair.

Not sure of time as forgot to stop watch but about right. I took it real easy and just enjoyed it, I am never taking 2 weeks off running again as did feel slow and struggling after the 2 hard interval sessions in the week at times when i should have been running easily but never really pushed hard so had a lot of fun and a chance to take in the scenery along the way would like to do this on fresh legs and give it a real go some time.
It was hard enough and long enough for the way I was feeling but on reflection not as hard or Hellish as I was expecting i think they will need to try harder espically the second half. Stonehaven Running Club 1:35:00 1:35:00 1:35:00 57.12

Yano Never done this kind of race before and expect it to be very hard. Will be happy to finish in one piece and with a smile on my face! .... Post-race update: I loved this! Really really enjoyed every minute of it. Beautiful route and great night weather wise, but pretty wet underfoot. I was expecting it to be harder and longer (was it roughly 10 miles?) but I'm not complaining. Hardest going was through bogs, at times up above knees. Hills were steep and slippy enough at times that most people had to walk. Since we didn't know the route or distance beforehand I ran a bit within myself, slower than normal in case there was unexpected nastiness ahead. So probably could have got a faster time but maybe it was so enjoyable because it was more a relaxed pace. Laughed a lot. Hit the deck twice, once head first and missed a tree by inches! Apparently a small group of us missed a turn between west highland way and mugdock wood and ran 2 minutes more than we should have - bah! So much more exciting than road running - my favourite race so far this year. Could easily get hooked on adventure racing. 66th out of 288. Unaffiliated 1:24:17 1:24:17 1:50:00 1:24:17 57.60
